Biography

German-Canadian soprano Sophie Antoinette Moedig has been praised for her "enchanting and compelling" performance and her "velvety" and "sovereign" voice. 

 

Born in Berlin, Sophie Antoinette Moedig first studied Drama in England before she turned her attention to singing and opera, which she trained in the Netherlands with Yvonne Schiffelers.

 

Her role repertoire includes Despina /Così fan tutte, Zerlina /Don Giovanni (German), Gretel /Hänsel und Gretel, Drusilla /L'incoronazione di Poppea, Acis /Acis and Galatea and Liebste (Buhlschaft) /Jedermann, a musical adaptation on Hofmannsthal's work, by Peter Lund and Wolfgang Böhmer.

Her concert repertoire includes soloist in Bach's Mattäuspassion, Mozart Requiem, Mozart Vesperae solennes de confessore, the Kyrie in Mozart's Great Mass in c, Schubert's Mass in G and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. 

 

Sophie Antoinette Moedig has performed in the Netherlands, Germany and Italy.

 

Directors Sophie has worked with include Oliver Klöter, Greg Eldridge, Sibylle Polster and Beverly Blankenship.

She received masterclasses from Nelly Miricioiu, Janice Dixon, Arthur Jansen and collaborated in masterclasses for young conductors with students of Roberto Paternoster and Prof. Colin Metters.

Further teachers include Prof. Peter Maus, Mya Besselink, Gundula Hintz and Rebekah Rota.
